Our Client is looking for a Director to lead the LAMP System Administrator team. The Director is a hands on role and will encompasses managing the implementation and support of all aspects of the Production infrastructure. This person will direct the performance of 5-7 technical support, systems administration staff. The ideal candidate will have a progressive career in IT and demonstrate current proficiency regarding LAMP technologies. The position requires a wide range of skills that encompass every area of Information Technology however the primary duties will be heavily geared towards Linux. The ideal candidate will be self-
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.
· Works with IT Executive peers and managers to determines current and future enterprise infrastructure needs. Ensures that the organizations? needs are met and establishes technology strategy and standards.
· Directs the Technical Operations staff to include hiring, work allocation, scheduling, training and professional development, problem resolution, performance evaluation and related activities. Maintains budgetary responsibility for the department.
· Directs all Data Center operations, server, and security systems, including ongoing performance monitoring and tuning, hardware and software platform upgrades.
· Performs system administration functions including new system configuration, software installations, code deployments and pro-active system monitoring and maintenance.
· Provide daily reports and status updates on incidents and projects.
Handles backup and recovery as well as disaster recovery procedures.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
· Strong use of Project Management concepts and ability to instill these practices within the organization.
· Create, define and successfully implement processes and procedures to effectively manage the Service Delivery organization; successfully establish measures of Operational Excellence
· Strategic as well as detail oriented
· Willing to be hands on when necessary to troubleshoot and resolve issues, especially in critical situations, and work the hours necessary to get the job done
· Able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks under daily deadlines
· 5-7 years real world experience in Red Hat or CentOS Linux administration or any other comparable version of UNIX in a service provider environment.
· 3-5 years real world experience with mass server deployment tools and server virtualization technologies.
· Must be able to work independently.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Incident management skills.
· Excellent time management.
· A sense of urgency and responsibility for following through.
· Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills.
· Must have valid US Passport and able to travel abroad on short notice.
